Information
The Law Graduate Program (PPG-DIR) of the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB), the best private university in the Midwest, was created in 2000 to promote the growing academic output of the institution's professors and students. Since then, its goal has been to offer excellent academic training to professionals capable of positioning themselves, with agility and transdisciplinary vision, in the face of an integrated world.
Currently, the teaching staff of the Program is composed of doctoral professors, all with solid intellectual training and international experience, qualified to conduct reflections on the treatment of global legal, political, and economic issues. Due to its transdisciplinary vision of Law, the PPG-DIR has professors from other Applied Social Sciences, especially Economics and International Relations. And because of that approach and the breadth of your area of concentration, The Program encourages students from other areas of Applied Social Sciences to join its staff, especially in the areas of Economics, International Relations, Accounting, and Management.
The Program, with an expected duration of 24 months, is conducted entirely at the Taguatinga Campus, although it can make use of disciplines offered in other units of the Institution, and offers a unique opportunity to master's students who want to delve into law topics, both through traditional legal approaches and through innovative inter- and transdisciplinary approaches.
DECLEN
DECLEN — Decolonizing and Comparing Legal Experiences Network (Network for Decolonization and Comparison of Legal Experiences)
In the year 2020, with the beginning of the pandemic and the physical distance between researchers, teachers and students, UCB teachers organized several webinars with national and international researchers in the field of human rights, comparative law, constitutional law and legal theory. Among the topics covered, the theme of the decolonization of law was avant-garde, recurrent, original and with the possibility of combining studies developed, largely isolated, in the country and abroad.
Then, in the year 2022, with the experience of these meetings, deepening of the ideas discussed and the strengthening of regional and international ties, DECLEN appears as a Research Network between Research Groups from UCB (DCB - Decolonization of Brazilian Law), UFPR (Postcolonial Studies Group), USP-Prolam and UERJ, as well as the participation of several national and foreign researchers, graduate and undergraduate students. Its primary objective is to unite researchers through discussions, text production, and research on three major themes of current law theory: (i) legal decolonization; (ii) decolonial Brazilian constitutionalism; and (iii) decolonial legal comparativism.
